The Gold Sheet
(547) Denver Nuggets at (548) Los Angeles Lakers
We've advocated for the under a couple times during this series, but Saturday's Game 4 sets up as a nice opportunity to pivot. Anyone that saw the Lakers' body language after Game 3 and LeBron James' "It's just basketball" comment can probably tell that the purple-and-gold are ready to check out of this series. What kind of effort are we going to see out of the Lakers on the defensive end tonight? In the same vein, the Nuggets know that they can probably end this series tonight or next week in Denver. When you've beaten an opponent 11-straight times, you have a pretty good feel for what you need to do to beat them. Will we see the same defensive urgency our of Denver that we have in the first three games of this series? D’Angelo Russell scored as many points as we did in Game 3, going 0-for-7 from the field. The Lakers' defense held the Nuggets to 18-percent shooting from three-point range in Game 3, and we still saw 217 points in that contest. The Lakers and Nuggets combined to shoot 10-of-55 from three-point range. Will Russell go scoreless again tonight? Probably not. Will they combine to miss 45 three-pointers again tonight? Probably not. Will both teams bring the same defensive intensity that we've seen through the first three games? Probably not. There are several avenues that lead us to a high-scoring Game 4 on Saturday night.
