In my books, Polymarket gets one of the top two slots in the prediction markets space. The site does a lot of things right and is looking to give Airdrop prezzies to its traders. There’s a kicker, though!

No one knows what the Polymarket Airdrop criteria are. That’s currently the next best-kept secret since Coca-Cola’s formula. I snooped around and thought real hard about it till I came up with a set of tips on how to qualify for the Airdrops if they actually drop. Read on to find these tips and much more.

Quick facts about how Polymarket Airdrops work

      • Polymarket is a prediction market where you can trade contracts on real events, including Airdrop-related events.
      • The site currently doesn’t have an Airdrop campaign.
      • There’s also no official information about when the Airdrop is expected to be available.
      • Traders are expected to meet certain eligibility requirements before they can receive Airdrops from Polymarket.

      How does Polymarket work?

Before I get into Polymarket’s Airdrops and all, here’s a crash course on how Polymarket works. It’s a decentralized prediction market site where you get to trade “Yes”/“No” contracts on the outcomes of real-world events. There’s no house setting prices here, as the site runs on a peer-to-peer market, so you’d be trading contracts with other folks like you on the site.

What else? The site runs on the Polygon network, and the event contracts you’d be trading are priced between $0.01 and $0.99, but guess what? No one fixes the prices. Rather, prices are determined by market sentiment about the probability of events occurring. So, let’s say an event contract is priced at $0.75 for a “Yes”. What that means is that other folks on the site think the probability of the event occurring is 75%. However, prices adjust as data releases, new information, and events influence trader sentiment.

If you buy a contract and your prediction about the event comes correct, you’d get $1.00. On the flip side, if the event’s outcome doesn’t match your predictions, you’ll get nothing, and the contract expires.

I like that you’d only pay peanuts in Polymarket trading fees and that there are loads of categories and topics to trade contracts on. Some of the categories available on the site include politics, culture, sports, economy, weather, geopolitics, and tech.

Understanding Web3 prediction market token distribution

Crypto prediction markets are slowly but surely becoming a thing in the crypto space. One such site, Polymarket, has crypto-related rumor mills spinning about the potential launch of its Airdrop.

For those who don’t already know, Airdrops are basically free crypto tokens that are awarded to multiple wallet addresses at the same time. You don’t have to jump through larger hoops to get them. You might be required to complete small tasks, or in some cases, you just might wake up and find them in your crypto wallet if you’re eligible for the drop.

So what does Web3 have to do with anything, and why should you care? Well, to answer the first question, I’d say that many prediction markets such as Polymarket use Web3 technology for a number of reasons. These include the support of self-executing smart contracts, access to verified real-world data, and the creation of borderless liquidity pools.

To answer your second question, if you’ve got a thing for crypto and follow trends in that space, you should care. That’s because token distribution is largely a promotional activity done to get folks talking about a token and possibly start trading with it later. Here’s where Polymarket enters the pic. There’s lots of talk about the site’s Airdrop. Keep reading to find out more about it.

      What are Polymarket Airdrops?

At the time of writing, Polymarket (POLY) doesn’t have any Airdrops at the moment. All that I found were rumors and more rumors of an imminent Polymarket Airdrop occurring. To be fair, they weren’t all rumors, as one of Polymarket’s head honchos, Matthew Modabber, claimed on the Degenz Live podcast in October 2025 that the site would have a token and an Airdrop.

Almost a year later, there isn’t much in the way of info about the Polymarket Airdrop criteria for eligible traders, nor is there any concrete info about the site’s imminent Airdrop campaign. That said, I had a couple of takeaways from Modabber’s comments on the podcast. One was that the site was dotting the “i’s” and crossing the “t’s” (my words, not his) about its Airdrop. Two was that Modabber cited Hyperliquid’s token model, which is generous and big on forecasting and trader activity. The third takeaway was that he suggested that the launch of the site’s app was the priority.

Getting past the noise about Polymarket Airdrops

After brewing all three takeaways together, I arrived at my unique take. There might soon be a generous Airdrop for traders who meet the Polymarket volume requirements for tokens. You won’t be able to farm these Airdrops, so don’t worry about getting any tools.

Rather, your trading activity might be key to getting Polymarket tokens when they drop. Bear in mind that the site’s Liquidity Rewards and Holding Rewards programs already reward traders who make things happen at the site, so it has a model and data to build on. Lastly, the Polymarket app download is now available on the Apple App Store in the US. So, the site’s “priority” has been met, and traders might get the Airdrop before Grand Theft Auto VI.

Where does that leave us? Well, all that’s left to do is to prep. Not in the sense of some major world-changing event occurring. It’s more about getting all the info you can as traders anticipate the Airdrop launch. Keep reading the rest of this guide for scoops that could come in handy.

What I learned about how to qualify for Polymarket Airdrops

Similar to the Second Coming, no one knows when the POLY Airdrops will go live. There’s also not much info about it either. However, drawing from my brew of takeaways that I mentioned earlier and some piecemeal info that I got from the grapevine, here are some things I think you should know:

      📝 Sign up at Polymarket

You definitely won’t qualify for Airdrops from Polymarket if you don’t already have an account with the site. It’s common for Yankee traders to ask, “Is Polymarket legal in the US?” Well, the answer isn’t so straightforward. At the moment, it is (as Polymarket US), though not without pushback from some states. At the moment, you can trade predictions in the US via the site’s iOS app. Here are the steps you’d take to create your account:

      • Click the banners on this page to visit the official Polymarket website.
      • Tap the “Sign Up” button.
      • Choose one of the available sign-up options (your Google or email account, or crypto wallets).
      • Follow the prompts, provide the required deets, verify your identity, and get signed up.

Once you’re in, set up and connect a crypto wallet (I recommend using a wallet that’s already in use). Then make your first deposit using USDC, pick a category from the list at the top of the page, select a contract, and start trading.

📈 Get active in more markets

As counterintuitive as it might sound, I think now’s the time to try out more markets. I’ve always been big on getting in where you fit in. By this, I mean sticking with Polymarket categories that I’m familiar with: sports and culture. But I don’t think that would cut it this time.

That’s because if trader participation is going to be a criterion for Airdrop eligibility, you’d need more than increased trading volume in one or two categories. A better Polymarket contract interaction strategy would be to get more active in more market categories. The trick is to do some research and consistently trade quality contracts so you’d actually be creating value on the site.

I’d suggest that you use more limit orders as they contribute to your eligibility for the Rewards program and increase your profile’s visibility. I’m currently working on trading in three more Polymarket categories (eSports, mentions, and crypto), so let’s see how it goes.

      📊 Consider holding positions

One fun part about trading event contracts is that you can flip positions to match the market sentiment. News flash! Holding positions is also a good strategy. Besides being rewarded for doing this by the site’s Holding Rewards program, holding positions can improve the site’s accuracy.

It also portrays you as someone who stands for something and not a trader looking to make a quick buck from prediction trades. I’d recommend mixing up short-term trades with long-term so you can get the best of both worlds.

      ⚖️ Trade responsibly

As anticipation of the Polymarket Airdrop builds, it's easy to get caught up in the hype about increased trading activity and to go all gung-ho with your trading activity on the site. Granted, trading activity is part of the criteria for a Polymarket active user Airdrop. However, resist the urge to “do the most”, especially if you just got a new account.

An unusual flurry of activity on your account just before an expected Airdrop isn’t a good look. It suggests that all that activity is just you trying to position yourself for some tokens. Much as I recommend actively trading in different categories, try to be responsible with it. Steady, measured deposits and trades beat large, irregular deposits and just trading for the sake of it.

      👥 Invite your buds over

Not to your home this time, but to the site. Why? Besides the potential commissions, getting more friends to sign up to the site via your unique referral link can legit increase your profile’s visibility on the site. You’d even become more visible if your buds are active traders who create real liquidity through their trading activities.

📢 Keep an eye on official channels

Constantly monitor official channels like Polymarket’s Discord account and follow it on X. That way, you’ll be in the know when official Polymarket snapshot dates or claiming deadlines are announced. That way, you’d know when to check your wallet for your token, and you’d also avoid falling for scams.

Last but by no means least, you may want to link your X account to your Polymarket account. You’d also have to create and share Polymarket-related content, such as your market analysis, predictions, or posts that provide info about using the site. Doing this works for a couple of reasons. First, it helps verify that you’re human and not a bot. Second, it offers evidence of your trading activity and organically increases your visibility.

Here’s a quick roundup of the dos and don'ts to note if you’d like to be eligible for a Polymarket Airdrop:

      DoDon’t
Create a Polymarket account if you don’t have one already.Try to game the system with wash trading.
Stay active in multiple categories.Use a fresh wallet.
Hold more contract positions.Skip the verification process.
Link your Polymarket account to your X account.
      Invite friends to the site.
Follow Polymarket on Discord and X.

Trading Airdrops event contracts at Polymarket

Although there currently aren’t any Polymarket Airdrops, the site allows you to trade prediction contracts on questions about events related to Airdrops. You’d even be able to trade on future Airdrop-related events before they occur.

Some of the future trades include anything from weekly markets to markets spanning months or even years. Similar to the other event contracts that I’ve described, you’ll receive $1 if your prediction comes correct, but your contract expires at $0 if it isn’t.

I found 103 Airdrop prediction markets that you could trade on at the site. Here’s a quick peek at some of them:

      • MegaETH Airdrop by June 30, 2026: “Yes” ($0.09); “No” ($0.99)
      • Pump.fun Airdrop by December 31, 2026: “Yes” ($0.21); “No” ($0.83)
      • Hyperliquid Airdrop by December 31, 2026: “Yes” ($0.19); “No” ($0.83)

The markets above are resolved based on official data or, in some cases, reputable sources. Thanks to the site’s use of the Polygon blockchain, it has access to real-time data. Each market has a specific criterion with which it is resolved. You can find all the deets about how each market is resolved by looking up the “Rules” on each market’s page.

Polymarket is also set up in such a way that you won’t have to worry about the accuracy of the prices. I found a claim by the site that it’s accurate 94% of the time up to one month before an outcome is published. On looking up the stats on the site’s Accuracy Page, I found the claim to be true.

Step-by-step guide to trading Airdrop event contracts at Polymarket

If you’re looking to trade any of the available Airdrop events at the site, follow the steps I described for creating your account. Once you’ve done those, here are some more steps to take:

      1. Locate the filter for the “Airdrops” category.
      2. Review the markets to find one that suits you.
      3. Tap “Yes” or “No” depending on the position you’d like to take.
      4. Wait for the market to resolve.
      5. Claim your rewards based on the outcome.

Pros and cons of meeting the Polymarket Airdrop criteria

Before wrapping up this guide, here’s a look at the good and not-so-good sides of meeting the eligibility requirements of the Polymarket’s Airdrop if it launches:

      Positive Aspects
      • Easy to claim
      • Potential high-value assets
      • Zero costs involved
      Negative Aspects
      • Unknown launch date

Conclusion – It should be easy to meet the Polymarket Airdrop criteria

Let’s keep it a buck. There’s no official info about Polymarket’s Airdrop save for an interview with its marketing department’s top dog. However, I’ve been watching trends in the crypto and prediction markets spaces for a bit, so I know what gives. That’s why it was easy for me to come up with potential eligibility requirements based on said interview and my experience with Airdrops.

Basically, qualifying for Airdrops is way easier than getting a degree in rocket science. Start by getting an account with the site, linking it with your X account and a crypto wallet that’s already in use. Then start trading in different categories. Avoid wash trading, though, and get some of your buds to sign up for the site. You might also want to hold more positions when trading instead of flipping sides, and always remember to keep an eye (or two) on official Polymarket channels. End of story.

I’ll also update this page with the latest info about the Polymarket Airdrop when I get any, so you might want to keep an eye on this page. In the meantime, hit the on-page banners and follow the prompts to see what’s cooking at Polymarket.
