ForecastEx Review 2026: Is ForecastEx Accurate and Reliable?

      Rating: 3.75 /5
      Email: info@forecastex.com
      Website: forecastex.com
      Company: ForecastEx LLC
      Address: Greenwich, CT, USA

ForecastEx is not basic in any sense of the word. This isn’t a cookie cutter prediction market site, not all. The site is a complicated little ball of yarn I untangled for this ForecastEx review.

The trickiest part? You don’t trade on ForecastEx directly. Instead, this CFTC-regulated prediction market exchange tells you to go trade with its partners: Interactive Brokers (IBKPR), Robinhood, and Advantage Futures. Fancy, right? They don’t skimp on market options either, with prediction markets ranging from Fed rate calls to CPI releases, jobs data, elections, and much more.

      Economics is where it’s at

I say let’s start with the best bit: the loads of options available. ForecastEx splits its contracts into categories on the site and they’re easy to find, but some of them have heaps more going on than others.

You can trade on specific numbers

ForecastEx puts most of its energy in the economic category, and I personally think it's the best reason to use the site. You'll find contracts on CPI, Fed funds, target rates, Fed decisions, payroll employment, unemployment rates, GDP, retail sales, housing starts, building permits, corporate profits and national debt. I especially like these markets because you can trade on specific points rather than just the generically boring question you see on most prediction market sites.

There’s crypto and stock index stuff too

The financial stuff includes things like Bitcoin's annual high or low, Ethereum price levels and equity index futures settlement levels. The crypto ones are basically asking whether a price hits a certain level by a certain date, so you just need to call one number instead of having to watch daily prices move like you would on a spot exchange.

Barely anything on politics right now

Politics contracts are pretty bare right now compared to what I found in my PredictIt prediction markets review. You've only got 2026 House and Senate control and the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, and that's about it. ForecastEx seems to be treating these types of contracts as something they add when the cycle rolls around, rather than keeping heaps of them going year-round.

Temperature contracts can be a bit all over the place

The environmental category covers global temperatures and daily city temperature thresholds. Some of those daily temperature products use the National Weather Service, while others use Weather Underground. So keep an eye on the fine print, because it gets tricky. You might find two contracts about the same city on the same day that have completely different settlement rules. You'll definitely want to check the observation date and measurement source before committing to a contract with these, because it really depends on who's measuring it.

ForecastEx is for finding the contracts, your broker is for trading

The ForecastEx site is where you can look for the contract, but the broker apps are where you actually trade them. I spent time on both and it's all pretty chill once you know which one does what. It’s no sweat, as you’ll see.

Everything you need in on the contract page

Everything loads easily by category and each contract page has the Yes or No prices, open interest, a price history chart and a link to whatever agency the result comes from. It runs 7 days a week and they only shut down for about 15 minutes on Wednesday mornings, so you can basically trade anytime you want.

You know exactly what you’d win or lose

Trading happens on IBKR or your other choice of broker. You pick your limit price, choose Day, immediate or cancel, or good till canceled, and you'll see the figures of potential profit, maximum loss and estimated cost before you decide to go ahead with a trade. Prediction market pricing can be a bit weird sometimes when all you’re seeing is cents everywhere. So seeing your full position in dollar amounts means you can fully judge your position before you commit to it.

      Your money never touches ForecastEx

ForecastEx doesn't have its own cashier, unlike the direct deposit options that I found in my Novig prediction markets review, so all the money goes through your broker instead. And there are a few timeline differences between funding methods you'll want to know about.

ACH can be a bit of a pain at first but gets better

Using IBKR as an example, it takes ACH transfers and bank wires for deposits. Wire deposits can take up to 4 business days but they come with a 3-day withdrawal hold once they arrive, which means you're looking at about a week before that money can move again. ACH is a bit slower on the first deposit, usually taking around 4 business days. But deposits after that usually go through immediately, which makes it the better option once your account is fully up and running. Both ACH deposits are free but banks tend to whack on their own fees for wires, so once you’re past the first one ACH wins every time. Remember though, this is just an example of one of the brokers available.

Get your money back the same way

You get 2 free withdrawal requests a month, then it's $10 for any extra USD wires or $1 for ACH withdrawals. But again, your bank can add some annoying charges on top of that. Two free ones a month is generous and will cover most people comfortably though. IBKR says it processes its withdrawals the same day or the next day, so you’re not hanging around to get your money out. But the ACH withdrawal hold is 5 business days to the account you sent it from, or 44 business days if you want to send it to a different account. So I'd just withdraw to wherever your deposit came from to avoid that long wait.

Funding method (IBKR example)Time to tradeDeposit feeWithdrawal hold
Bank wireUp to 4 business daysBank may charge3 days
ACH (first deposit)4 business daysFree5 days to the same account
ACH (following deposits)ImmediateFree44 days to a different account

ForecastEx offers customer support via email

Support is split between ForecastEx and your broker, so where you go depends on what you need. ForecastEx has an email address at info@forecastex.com for all general questions, but most of the questions you're going to have as a trader are probably going to go to your broker anyway. Account funding, commissions and anything to do with trading are all part of the broker side, but it’s handy having that direct email for ForecastEx for when you want to know why a contract settled the way it did. I tested the response time by sending a question about when CPI contracts settle and they got back to me within a few hours.

      CFTC designation since 2024

ForecastEx got its CFTC designation as both a contract market and a clearing organization back in June 2024. Your money goes into cash collateral instead of margin, so your dollars are being used for every contract rather than being leveraged. That's not going to help you if your prediction is wrong, but at least you know the regulatory stuff is sorted. Account security features through your broker include things like two-factor authentication, but that sits entirely with your broker rather than ForecastEx itself.

It’s really for the macro crowd

ForecastEx is really one for people who are into proper macro data and like to see where specific numbers are heading. The range of economic contracts is huge and the questions are much more specific than other prediction market sites out there.

You do need a broker to access it and some of the less liquid contracts can be harder to exit before settlement, but neither of those snags should put you off using ForecastEx as your choice of exchange.
