My love of backing teams coming off misleading losses takes me to Manhattan, KS. The Wildcats got crushed by BYU last weekend, 38-9. Very misleading score. K-State out-gained BYU by 126 total yards, but a -3 turnover margin proved costly. Two of those turnovers directly led to scores, a 30-yard fumble-return TD and a 90-yard fumble-return TD.
Oklahoma State is also coming off a bit of a misleading scoreboard. The Cowboys lost at home to Utah, 22-19. The game wasn't as close as that final score would seem to indicate. The Cowboys scored a pair of TDs in the game's final 6 minutes. The reality is, Utah dominated that game. Utah out-gained Okie State by 171 total yards, had 201 more rushing yards, and had a 42:26 to 17:34 time-of-possession edge.
I expect both of those misleading scoreboards to get straightened out in this one. The icing on the cake: Marc Lawrence tells us that Kansas State is 18-0 ATS when they own a win percentage of at least .375 and are coming off a double-digit ATS loss. Lay it.
