966 Tampa Bay at Detroit
Zack Littell has pitched much better in Tampa than on the road this year. He owns a 2.90 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in Tampa, but a 4.45 ERA and 1.45 WHIP away from home. His season ERA is 3.56 but his xERA is 4.17, so he’s due a bit of negative regression. He’s pitched great as of late, going 18 shutout innings in his last three starts. Which makes him a sell high starter tonight vs the red hot Tigers.
Detroit counters with Keider Montero and his 4.86 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. While his numbers aren’t impressive, we like his future much more than his mound counterpart. Detroit just played nine straight games against Baltimore and Kansas City, two teams fighting along side them for playoff spots. The Tigers won 7 of those 9 games, and added a 2-1 win over the Rays last night.
The Tigers are a confident club peaking at the right time, this is a bargain price against a starter recently pitching over his head.
