(969) Boston Red Sox at (970) Toronto Blue Jays
(4%) TORONTO. Off yesterday's loss, I expect the Jays to bounce back today. They should be motivated to officially finish off Boston. Somehow, the Red Sox remain “mathematically” alive for the playoffs. Their chances are minuscule though and even the most die-hard Boston fan knows it's not happening. Gausman is in solid current form. In six August starts, he had a 2.89 ERA. So far, in three September starts, he's got a 2.50 ERA. In his last start, he delivered five shutout innings. In his last home start, he allowed two runs through seven complete innings. In five career starts, at Toronto, vs. the Red Sox, Gausman has a 2.70 ERA. While Fitts has pitched well, he's still only made three starts and only one of those came on the road. The Red Sox are still missing some regulars. The Jays will cool them off and make it official this evening. *Reduce to 3% if more than -140
