The 49ers find themselves treking across the country on a short week for an early game and they'll once again be without star RB Christian McCaffrey. They rolled the Jets by 13 points on Monday night in what was Aaron Rodgers' first game action in a year, but teams often step up in their first game without a star player. It's in that second game where they tend to come back down to earth.
I'm no fan of Vikings QB Sam Darnold, but he looked very good against the Giants last Sunday. And remember, Darnold practiced a lot against this 49ers defense last season when he was on the team. The Vikings' offensive line played very well against a pretty talented pass rush group of the G-men.
Minnesota upset the 9ers last season and it was a legit win too, as they out-gained SF by 127 total yards. The Vikes are a well-coached team and they're talented enough to hang tough in this one, if not spring the upset on a 49ers team that is in a tough situational spot.
