Steven Matz makes his 1st start in 4 months tonight. When veteran pitchers make their way back from injury they usually have a strong outing in that 1st start back. They are so locked in to do well and have worked so hard getting back that they do have a strong outing. So why am I not just taking St. Louis? Because Milwaukee sends Aaron Civale to the mound who is pitching well. In his last 4 starts he’s allowed a grand total of just 5 runs in 23+ innings of work. So given that I expect good outings from both pitchers I’m going to look at the UNDER 8.5 here which I believe is inflated due to there being 12 runs scored in yesterday’s game.
