Proactive stance in this one with angle being current value with each offense. Sam Houston State HC K.C. Keeler unaccustomed to having his team lack scoring prowess like last season’s initial FBS group which averaged just 20 ppg. Latter half of season brought more promise as SHSU scored 23+ six straight times to close out 2023. This year looks even further improved and expect their pass oriented system to be dynamic. Ditto that for Rice which hit the transfer portal and reeled in ex-Temple QB E.J. Warner whose forte is passing the football. Owls HC Mike Bloomgren is an advocate of the old Stanford “run heavy” by nature but he loosened up a bit last season with pocket passer J.T. Daniels and it led to 252 pypg and 29.5 ppg which are the highest averages of his six year tenure. Expect is seventh season to continue that trend with Warner and Rice should find openings in the Bearkats pass defense. Like the fundamental matchups here which are likely strong enough to climb this posted number. Fireworks show possible but not necessary to cash here with game that figures to land 51+.
