Jameson Taillon is having an under the radar very good season. He brings in a 3.50 ERA and 1.18 WHIP into this contest. His BB% is elite in the 94th percentile. Which should be huge going against a Cleveland team that really makes the opposition work. He’s bounced back very well from poor outings, and he was lit up by of all teams the White Sox last time out. In his two previous games of allowing five earned runs or more, he followed those up with one earned run in a combined 12 innings of work.
The Guardians are sending newly acquired Alex Cobb to the mound for his second start. His first outing of the season after a long IL stint did not go as planned. He permitted four earned runs in 4.2 innings vs the Twins. Cleveland will need him to go somewhat deep here, despite his lack of pitches thrown this season. The back of the bullpen for Cleveland has been fantastic all season. But that group is a concern today, as Clase, Gaddis and Smith will not be available. The 7th and 8th inning guys have pitched 3 of the last 4 games, while Emmanuel Clase, the best closer in baseball has pitched four days in a row.
Great betting value on the Cubs in this one.
