Uruguay vs Panama
Copa America, Sunday, 9pm ET

Play: Uruguay -1.5
Odds at Time of Release: -120
Line Parameter: Playable to -130

Uruguay are coming into this tournament as one of the favourites to win, but they are in the bad side of the bracket along with Brazil and Colombia. Even so, they have a great generation of players with Liverpool's Nunez (and Luis Suarez was also called up), Real Madrid's Federico Valverde, Atletico Madrid's Gimenez, Barcelona's Araujo and Napoli's Olivera and Cagliari's Nandez and Flamengo's Vina at the back, PSG's Ugarte at the midfield along with Flamengo's Nico de la Cruz (who has been this team's playmaker) among many others. And they are all coached by former Leeds coach Marcelo Bielsa, who has turned this group to a well-oiled attacking machine that is currently W4 D1 L1 in the World Cup Qualifiers, with the best offense in the tournament (13 goals), beating BOTH Argentina AND Brazil by 2-0. This Uruguay team has come here to win it all.

And they are now in a group with USA, Panama and Bolivia, they should be able to win this group easily. They are starting the Copa America with a match against Panama, who are not exactly the most talented teams out there, and they recently lost some key players, in all lines, to injuries, as defenders Escobar and Andrade, midfielder (and captain) Anibal Godoy, as well as forward Waterman were all injured and unavailable. This makes Panama's work even harder, and there was never any guarantee that they would qualify from this group, as only the two top teams advance, and there's Uruguay and USA in this group.

12 of Uruguay's L/13 wins came by 2 goals or more, and that includes a 5-0 against Panama in a friendly match, a couple of 2-0 wins against Brazil and Argentina. Under Marcelo Bielsa, Uruguay have a W7 D1 L2 record in all competitions, losing only to Ecuador in the Qualifiers and to Ivory Coast in a friendly match (where they were missing Nunes), with all 7 wins in that span coming by 2 goals or more.
