(907) Milwaukee Brewers at (908) San Diego Padres

Play Rating:
2% – (907) Milwaukee Brewers at (908) San Diego Padres Total Over 9.0 (+105) C Rodriguez (RHP), R Vasquez (RHP) Must Start

Much like the Nationals-Rockies game, Saturday's contest in San Diego has some blow-up potential with both the starting pitchers and the bullpens. This will be Milwaukee's ninth-straight day with a game, and the Brewers' bullpen has been forced to eat some innings in this series. On Thursday, neither starting pitcher completed 5.0 innings, forcing the Padres' bullpen to throw 106 pitches. Things didn't get much easier on Friday as Dylan Cease couldn't get through the fifth inning, forcing the Padres' bullpen to throw another 85 pitches. Milwaukee's Jared Koenig and Hoby Milner have each pitched on back-to-back days, to they are both presumably unavailable on Saturday. San Diego's Enyel De Los Santos has pitched on back-to-back days and Stephen Kolek threw 40 pitches yesterday, so presumably both of them are unavailable on Saturday. That is troubling with two young starting pitchers on the mound. Milwaukee's Carlos Rodriguez is making his third-career start after allowing five runs on six hits with two walks in 4.2 innings against the Angels on Monday. San Diego's Randy Vásquez has struggled in recent weeks. His expected ERA (6.48) and expected batting average allowed (.331) are at the very bottom of the charts among all pitchers this season. He allowed six runs on 12 hits with two walks in 4.1 innings against the Phillies on Monday. He's allowed 3+ runs in five of his last six starts. With two shaky starting pitchers and two bullpens that will likely be missing some key pieces, we'll gladly take a look at the over on Saturday evening.
