Play Rating:
2% – (925) Detroit Tigers at (926) Atlanta Braves Total Under 9.0 (-103) C Mize (RHP), S Schwellenbach (RHP) Must Start

As the calendar officially turns to summer this week and temperatures across the country heat up, MLB totals are certain to rise as well. We like to look for opportunities like we have in Atlanta today where conditions will be good for hitting (hence the high total), but we're not sure it will make a difference for one offense. The Tigers have been a boom-or-bust offense over the last two weeks, scoring double-digit runs twice while also being held to zero or one run five times in their last 12 games. On Sunday, Detroit was held to one run at Houston and the Tigers were held to a single run last night in Atlanta. Entering Tuesday, Detroit is hitting .231 this season (No. 25 in MLB) with a .298 on-base percentage (No. 27) while hitting 67 home runs (No. 23). Is a warm night in Atlanta really going to make THAT much of a difference for a team that struggles at the plate? Braves' starter Spencer Schwellenbach got off to a little bit of a rocky start, but his pedigree suggests that he will figure things out. Prior to getting called up in late May, Schwellenbach threw 17.2 scoreless innings in his final three minor league starts. In his last outing against the Orioles, he allowed two runs on four hits in 6.0 innings. Anything in that neighborhood against a struggling Tigers' lineup should be enough to keep this final score under the total of 9 on Tuesday night.
