It feels as if the market has completely forgotten about our guy Volkan “No Time” Oezdemir. Over his career he's faced high level talent and former champions like Daniel Cormier and Jiri Prochazka. There's a few advantages for Volkan Saturday but his biggest advantage will be durability, while Johnny Walker could be on the Mount Rushmore of class chins. Not only does Johnny continually get meme knocked out but overall just doesn't absorb shots very well. Always rocked or wobbled off some glancing blows leaving himself vulnerable. Having durability issues is bad enough… but in this weight class it's even worse were guys hit extremely hard in the light heavyweight division. Now Walker's timid in the pocket being overly patient in hopes of protecting his chin. This was displayed in Walker's most recent bout against an aged out Anthony Smith. Sure, Johnny grabbed the win but it may have been one of the worst fights I've seen. Both stood at range while Walker kicked Smith's legs and poked at him for 15 mins. Anthony Smith was there to be hit and Walker insisted on staying at range in order to protect chin and win a very boring fight. Believe that speaks to his own concerns regarding his durability. Even in fights Johnny wins …he gets dropped. Against Ryan Spann, Walker was dropped twice out of the 7 significant strikes landed in a wild sequence. Then Ryan Spann does Ryan Spann things, making incredibly terrible decisions losing the fight. The message there is all you gotta do is touch the chin and you'll find a lot of success. Now Walker is coming off another brutal knockout loss to Magomed Ankalaev only 6 months ago. While Volkan is coming off a submission win looking sharp on the feet and working in some wrestling against Bogdan Guskov. Solid performance dropping Guskov and landing a takedown. Stylistically, Volkan should be able to utilize a mix of high level kickboxing and forward pressure getting inside the reach of Walker. At times Johnny struggles using that reach waiting to counter or doing some random spinning shit. Oezdemir will walk forward punishing the long legs of Walker whom doesn't check leg kicks very well. It'll be a target Volkan attacks early and often. Believe he'll also push a higher striking output while Walker's limited volume puts him behind on the scorecards if Volkan doesn't knock him out early. At slight plus money to pick'em odds leaves a ton of value on “No Time” in this spot.
