Louisiana Tech defense commonly shredded recently as even the low level offense of Sam Houston State slapped 35 points & 443 total yards on them (both season highs). In comes Jacksonville State off of a bye week with their extreme tempo offense (#2 in the country in seconds per play) and the 8th ranked rushing offense. That particular matchup likely to present 60 minutes of difficulty for the Bulldogs whose defense allows 206.5 rypg & 5.1 per carry. Allowing Jacksonville State’s run game to cook only creates more trouble as QB’s Zion Webb & Logan Smothers are at their best when they’re able use the passing game to balance the offense. However, problems exist for the other side too as La Tech’s pass happy “Air Raid” system and their receiving corps led by “Smoke” Harris has a prime opportunity to light up the mediocre JSU pass defense.
