Let me start with an excerpt from what I wrote about the Magic prior to their one point, spread covering loss in Mexico City against the Hawks LAST Wednesday:
“Last year, with the same basic core of players and the same head coach, the Orlando Magic were a STRONG bet-on team off a loss. My numbers show that the Magic went 16-3 ATS in this role between December and April; my clients and I cashed with them repeatedly in this role – off a loss, like the poorly played defeat they just suffered on Monday at the hands of Dallas. This year, the Magic are 1-1 ATS off a loss. I still think the ‘bet on Orlando off a loss’ angle is very much worthy of a wager.”
The Magic are now 3-1 ATS off a loss this season after the pointspread cover against the Hawks and another against the Bucks in their next game, following that one point defeat. Guess what – the Magic are coming off another loss today, blown out in Brooklyn last night. Jamahl Mosely after the game: “We talked about not beating ourselves, and 16 turnovers for 27 points isn’t going to get the job done.” The Magic should be hungry and focused here.
Orlando won SU on this floor twice last year, and it’s not like the Bulls have a strong homecourt edge this season either. The offensively challenged Bulls will be playing without DeMar DeRozan tonight, and they may be without top perimeter defender Alex Caruso as well. Chicago’s only SU wins in November have come against bottom feeders Detroit and Utah. Orlando is no bottom feeder this season. Mo Wagner: “I think we’ve improved a lot from last year.” I concur. Take the Magic.
