2% #872 Butler Bulldogs (-17) over E. Tennessee State —
This Butler team has started off the season dominant, and while their F2 opponents have been lower-tier teams … that doesn’t change in this one and I expect the momentum to continue to roll.
Butler has started the season 2-0, covering both of their games, and winning by 27 PPG on average!! They have put up 90+ in both games, and allowed Eastern Michigan & Southeast Missouri State to shoot a COMBINED 39-128 (30.5%) from the field! They have allowed just 55 & 56 points in both of those games and have a history of starting the season hot, especially at home. In the last 2 years they are 6-0 ATS @ H in November, and Thad Matta has created another impressive looking team here at Butler, at least thus far in non-conference play.
Butler is a deep team, with 4 players already averaging double-digit points and 7 others on the roster who have, can or will contribute to this team in the long run. They have distributed the ball well, rebounded efficiently and have definitely dominated the opposition with their defensive prowess.
East Tennessee State has shot just 40% on the season thus far, and their games have come against Elon (expected to finish near the bottom of CAA) and D-II King University, now the level of competition takes a HUGE step up. Their inability to score consistently or efficiently against those lesser teams should come as a concern against the Butler defense.
