Rennes vs Lyon
Ligue 1, Sunday, 11:05am ET
Rennes are coming off a very tiresome match mid-week in the Europa League, where they were playing with 10 men for over an hour in their 3-1 home win against Panathinaikos. Now remaining at home with a very short turnaround to host a Lyon side that has been really bad all season, but there are reasons to fade the favourites here.
Other than the extra fatigue the Rennes players have from the Thursday match, Rennes have won just 2 of L7 matches in all competitions, both wins against Panathinaikos in the Europa League (W2 D1 L4). Their coach, Bruno Genesio, has a very special bond with Lyon, as he was born there, played in Lyon for 10 years and coached them for 4 years, and even left as a friend, to go and coach in China. Now I'm not saying that he will lose intentionally, but it's quite emotional to see the team of your heart (Lyon) at the LAST spot of the Ligue 1.
Now Lyon, they are healthier than they've ever been this season, they are starting to click offensively but their defense is causing problems. Even so, all things considered, Lyon are not supposed to be last in the league and battling relegation. They now face a tired Rennes team that hasn't been in the best of forms either.
Absolutely no value in taking Rennes in this spot, I disagree with the odds and I am backing Lyon to get at least a point here. Take Lyon +0.5 at +105, which is essentially a double chance (Draw and Lyon Win)
Play: Lyon +0.5
Odds at Time of Release: +105
Line Parameter: Playable to -110, no play if odds lower than -110
