We're taking Manchester City to win outright on the road on Sunday against Chelsea in the EPL.
Full Breakdown
It's almost newfound territory for Chelsea of late as they came off their third win in just five games on Monday night against then top of the table Tottenham over in North London.
Chelsea ran out comfortable 4-1 winners in that game, something that suggests they may be competitive in Sunday's clash against Manchester City as well, but the final scoreline really flattered the Blues in that game with Spurs arguably throwing it away more than Chelsea won it.
Tottenham opened the game extremely brightly, netting the opening goal inside just 6 minutes, with another goal ruled offside just eight minutes later as well as their pace and fluidity in attack seemed to overwhelm Chelsea early. However, a Cristian Romero red card, and then injuries to both James Maddison and Micky van de Ven inside the first half derailed Spurs' momentum in that game, and after going down to just nine men early in the second half, it was always going to be an uphill struggle to remain competitive in that game.
That said, even with all of those factors going against Tottenham, they still almost grabbed a late draw before Chelsea were able to inflate the scoreline with 94th & 97th minute injury-time strikes to pad the final score.
It's highly unlikely Chelsea will get that same level of fortune in this one however, and they'll need it as inside Stamford Bridge this season, Chelsea have noticeably struggled, scoring almost half the number of goals that they have done on the road, as well as dropping from 4th to 11th in defensive xGA rankings as well.
For Manchester City, since the return of Rodri to the midfield against Brighton three weeks ago, they've won every single game by a combined 17-3 scoreline, and have won six straight head-to-head matchups against Chelsea as well, shutting out the Blues in every one of those meetings also.
Chelsea's numbers have been solid this year no doubt, but they lack any real leadership on the squad bar the aging Thiago Silva, and coming up against the best team in Europe this weekend who not only possess world-class leadership right across the pitch, but who also boast significantly better numbers than Chelsea this season (#1 offensive xG on the road, #1 defensive xGA, #1 xPTS), this really does look like a men against boys matchup on Sunday.
With the international break coming up next week, expect Manchester City to solidify their place at the top of the table with a comprehensive road victory against Chelsea this weekend.
