Oh, what could have been. This should have been the Sun Belt championship game last season, but the Dukes were unable to compete in the postseason because of their rise from FCS to FBS. This is the middle game of a three-straight on the road for JMU after making the very short trek to Charlottesville last week. A timely weather delay came in handy for the Dukes, who trailed for most of the second half against Virginia until both teams were sent to the locker room. The Dukes scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter after the delay to earn the one-point win over an inspired Cavaliers squad. JMU was the talk of the college football world last season, but in our opinion, the Dukes are getting a little too much respect in the betting market for this one. JMU left the state of Virginia four times last season. They lost at Georgia Southern and they lost to a not-very-good Louisville team by 24. Their two road games came at Arkansas State, who is one of the worst teams in the country, and at App State after the Mountaineers were up by 25 and ran out of steam in the second half. This road test at Troy will present a different kind of challenge. James Madison had last week's game against Virginia circled on its calendar. Troy has this one circled on theirs.
