Philadelphia vs Cincinnati
MLS, Saturday, 7:30pm ET
Cincinnati are without KEY PLAYER Luciano Acosta in this match (due to yellow card accumulation), which really takes away a LOT of their goalscoring. Acosta has been by FAR their main focal point in the attack this season, leading the team in so many statistical categories, and with a BIG margin from the 2nd best.
He is leading the scoring with 13 goals (Vasquez is 2nd with 5 goals) and he is also leading the assists with 10 (Barreal is 2nd with 6). Even underlying stats state that he is by far the best player in that squad, leading the team in Shots, expected assists, Chances Created and 2nd in expected goals. This is a HUGE blow for Cincinnati, who have always suffered greatly whenevever he missed a match. The last time that happend was back in April, where Cincinnati lost 5-1 on the road against St Louis. Prior to that they had a 1-1 draw on the road against New York City, in a match where they were DOMINATED and should have lost easily.
All in all, Acosta has missed 8 matches since he came to Cincinnati back in 2021, and Cincinnati have not won a single match (W0 D3 L5), while being outscored by 21-5, while 4 of 5 losses came to nil, and conceding 2+ goals in all 5 losses. It's simple, Cincinnati are falling apart whenever Acosta is out. Their away record without Acosta is W0 D1 L5.
To add to that, another of their Designated Players, Aaron Boupendza, was on international duty but despite his last match being last Saturday, he still hasn't returnd to the US (he is expected to be back on Friday at some point), which means that he missed Thursday's training and his trip back and forth to Africa might have challenged his sleeping schedule, there might be some jet lag etc, so all in all, he is going to be with the team, but he is unlikely to start.
And now Cincinnati play against Philadelphia who washed off a terrible 3-1 loss to Toronto with a nice, confident 4-1 home win over the Red Bulls. They are one of the best and most reliable teams at home, where they have 4 wins and 1 draw as hosts against Cincinnati over the years. Take Philadelphia ML (-125) here
