Minnesota at North Carolina
North Carolina may have already beaten South Carolina and Appalachian State. But I don’t like the idea of the Tar Heels laying more than one score against a Minnesota team that will relish the underdog role. UNC needed two overtimes to escape Appalachian State last week. They trailed most of the game and never led by more than 3 in regulation. It was the first time in eight years the Heels won a game without a passing TD. Minnesota is 0-2 ATS, but 2-0 SU, which actually puts the Golden Gophers in a good spot, historically speaking. Teams that are 2-0 SU/0-2 ATS are 24-7 SU/17-10 ATS. I like the defense for the Golden Gophers, which has allowed just 16 points and an average of 223.5 yards per game so far. Holding Drake Maye and company to those kinds of numbers may be a tall order. However, I expect Minnesota to discover its offense against a UNC defense that has allowed an average of 272 yards passing. The Tar Heels aren’t much better at stopping the run. Look for the underdog to score enough to stay within the number and possibly even pull an outright upset. 4% Minnesota (Play to +6)
