This is a schedule booster for a Maryland team padding their record with wins before conference play begins. We saw Virginia struggle through a 3-7 record a year ago with only one win in ACC play, and things haven’t gotten any better in 2023. So far the Cavs have been drubbed by 36 to Tennessee and lost outright to transitional program JMU. They’ve allowed 85 points in just two games and now must face a Maryland offense that excels against weaker competition. The biggest problem for the Terps has been stepping up in class, but they averaged 6 yards per play a season ago against unranked competition. Taulia Tagovailoa is leading an offense that’s averaging over 200 yards on the ground and 490 total thus far. The Terps have Virginia dominated in nearly every major category, and College Park should hold a substantial home edge with this being one of the few games on Friday night. Take Maryland.
