Western Michigan at Iowa
There’s a good chance that Western Michigan won’t score a single point in this game. Last week the Broncos put up only 7 against Syracuse. This is one of the worst teams in the country facing an Iowa defense that is one of the best. In two games, the Hawkeyes have allowed 14 points to Utah State and 13 to Iowa State. Those are two much stronger opponents than WMU. But what I want to talk about next is the Iowa offense. Offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz will lose his job if the Hawkeyes don’t average 25 points per game this year. It’s in his contract! So far they are averaging just 22 points per game. This is Iowa’s chance to “run it up offensively.” Western Michigan’s defense just gave up 48 to Syracuse. You may not think of Iowa as a team very capable of covering a big spread like this, but they are 67% ATS (16-8) the previous 24 times they’ve been laying 21.5 to 31 points. So lay it. 4% Iowa (Play to -31)
