3% #980 San Francisco Giants (-128) over Cleveland Guardians —
While I didn’t feel it was necessary to list the pitchers in this game, seeing as I don’t think it would really change the result, that does NOT mean that the pitchers don’t benefit us here.
San Francisco is looking to get Sean Manaea back into a starting spot to close out the season. He has struggled as a starter this year, but has been better in inter-league matchups, posting a 2.89 ERA w/ a 0.965 WHIP. Yet what stands out even more is his career success against the Guardians team. Manaea is 3-0 in 5 starts with a 3.21 ERA against Cleveland, and Manaea’s team has won all 5 games.
Cal Quantrill is on the mound for Cleveland and in his last outing, despite tying a season-high in strikeouts (6) and throwing 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits Cleveland still couldn’t get the win against the Angels. As of late, the positives really end there though, he has posted a 8.74 ERA in 5 inter-league starts (CLE = 1-4), and the Guardians have won just 1 of his L7 starts (30 ERs in 33.2 IP).
San Francisco still finds themselves in the playoff hunt, with 6 teams within 5.5 games for the 3 NL wildcard spots. Cleveland is all but out of the chase at this point in the AL and this is the FINAL non-divisional series for the Giants to secure some wins before finishing with 16 straight against the division, including 7 against the Dodgers.
