In Year 2 of the Jim Mora era in Storrs, the reports from Huskies camp were nearly uniformly positive regarding their expected offensive improvement (less than 20 points per game in each of the previous three seasons). They have nine returning starters (a whopping 102 combined previous starts from their offensive line), and a fifth year senior at QB who played uptempo football with offensive coordinator Nick Charlton at Maine. They opened with NC State, a top notch ACC defense. This week, it’s Georgia State; a pretty big step down in defensive class. The Panthers went 2-4 SU at home last year; they’ve got significant concerns on the offensive line and in the secondary. Georgia State allowed five TD’s (and didn’t force a FG attempt), while allowing more than 500 total yards in their opener against FCS Rhode Island. That’s a problem! Wrong team favored here. Take UConn.
