I'm just not buying these Giants. Sure, they were 9-7-1 last season. But they got that record with a defense that ranked 28th in Expected Points Added and an offense that was in the bottom 7 in passing yards. Sure looks like last season was a "smoke & mirrors" type situation for the G-men. That rarely gets repeated. Note that the Giants were 2-7 against playoff teams, including 0-2 against Dallas for the second straight season.
The Cowboys once again have a roster with enough talent to win it all. Dak is poised to have a bounce-back season in regard to turnovers, the o-line is solid but not deep, and they upgraded the WR2 and CB2 spots with veterans Cooks and Gilmore, respectively. Letting Zeke go was addition by subtraction, as the tread has long been worn off those tires. Rookie RB Deuce Vaughn has the playmaking ability to take it to the house every time he touches the football. Dallas should once again have a fierce pass rush and should generate tons of turnovers under coordinator Dan Quinn.
After facing Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in their last two season openers, the Cowboys finally have a lid lifter they're likely to win. The only way I see the Giants keeping this under a TD is if the Cowboys shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties. Not like they haven't done that in the past, but this is a "hot seat" season for Mike McCarthy, and I expect his team to respond accordingly.
