We know, it's not fun betting on the Oakland A's. But a) They're not going to finish the season 10-152. They have to win sometime; b) These are the spots where you want to be on them. Oakland's offense is unquestionably one of the worst in baseball, but they're better against lefties and they're better away from home. We've got a lefty in Marco Gonzales on the mound tonight, and he's not in good form. Gonzales faced the A's four times last season, and he posted a total of eight strikeouts in those four games. Eight strikeouts in four games against the worst team in baseball. When facing a lefty on the road, Oakland is hitting .253 (No. 14 in MLB) with a .314 on-base percentage (No. 16) and a 91 wRC+. Those are all respectable numbers. Their 20.8-percent strikeout rate against lefties on the road is No. 10 in the league. They are on the road and guaranteed to get nine at-bats. If they are down by nine runs like they were last night, they're going to see the weaker arms of Seattle's bullpen.
