It should be a playoff atmosphere tonight when the Dodgers visit Hot-lanta. Based on this starting pitching matchup, I have a hard time believing the Braves won't be up when 5 innings are in the books.
Gavin Stone gets the start for LA. His Major League experience consists of one start and that came on May 3rd at home against the Phillies. Stone gave up 4 earned runs in his 4 innings of work. He struck out just one batter and produced a 2.50 WHIP. I don't think things are gonna much better for Stone tonight.
On the other side, 39-year old Charlie Morton gets the start for Atlanta. Morton is Mr. Steady. He just produces one solid season after another and just keeps on going. I'm sure Morton will give up a couple runs to a very good Dodgers lineup, but I have a hard time believing he won't out-pitch Stone.
Some trends of note:
-> LA is 0-2 this season as a road dog against a RHSP (lost by 3.5 rpg)
-> Going back to the '19 season, LA is 0-7 as a regular season road dog of +105 or more against a RHSP (lost by 2.4 rpg)
-> Going back to the '21 season, Atlanta is 6-1 as a non-division home favorite with Morton on the mound against an NL opponent with a winning record
-> Atlanta is 9-3 this season as a home favorite of more than -125 under the lights against NL opponents starting a RHP (won by 2.3 rpg)
