Pablo Lopez might be able to go pitch-for-pitch with Shohei Ohtani, but we're not sure how much run support he's going to get behind him. Byron Buxton left yesterday's game with a leg issue, so he's likely unavailable for today. The Twins are hitting .235 against right-hand pitching this season (No. 22 in MLB). The Twins' current roster is hitting .154 in 33 plate appearances vs Ohtani with a 21.2-percent strikeout rate. Ohtani's box score numbers have not been very good in recent weeks, but almost all of that can be attributed to home runs. He's allowed eight home runs in his last four starts, which obviously isn't good, but he's not allowing hits, walks and men on base. He's allowing big bombs. Assuming Buxton is out, that takes a big home run threat out of the Twins' lineup. Mike Trout had off on Friday, so that decreases any worries about him sitting today. The Twins are 11-13 away from home this season. Los Angeles has dropped to third in the AL West and the Astros are picking up steam. With Ohtani on the mound, this is a game where they need to step on the gas and pick up a win.
