The Carolina Hurricanes fell to the Panthers in game one, but they played extremely well in the process. The Hurricanes will look to bounce back in Front of their home crowd; they scored the opening goal of game 1 and dominated the third period outshooting the Panthers 14-2. When given the opportunity to have the last change at home, the Hurricanes typically make the most of it. The Hurricanes are one of the deepest teams in the league, so when they are able to decide the matchups it’s a huge advantage. Although they are going up against a tough goaltender, the Hurricanes defensive abilities gives them a great chance when competing in these low scoring contests. Carolina went 2-6 on the PP, which is great sign for them after struggling for a short time, but still something that can be improved on. The Hurricanes held 97% of the expected goals share at 5-on-5 in the third period - so although they ended up losing in 4OT, there was no lack of production.
Carolina hasn’t lost B2B games this post season and I don’t expect that to change this evening. Look for the home team to win game 2.
