Patrick Corbin has been respectable in recent weeks, but we're going to look to attack him here. Torkelson is hitting .232 this season, but his expected batting average is much higher at .267. His 47.2-percent hard-hit rate puts him in the top quartile among hitters this season. His strikeout rate has dropped four percentage points from last year. Detroit can be a tough place to hit in April and May, so he's hitting better on the road. Eight of his 13 extra-base hits have come away from home this season. We said Corbin was pitching better, but he's still in the bottom-20th percentile among pitchers in average exit velocity, hard-hit rate, expected batting average, strikeout rate and whiff rate. Torkelson is hitting cleanup today, and he's on the road team guaranteed to get its full share of at-bats.
