Lerone Murphy is fighting on home soil for the first time since joining the UFC in 2019 as he gets a featured bout in London, England, against short-notice opponent Gabriel Santos. Murphy has been a rising prospect in the UK for some time, as he won the FCC featherweight championship in early 2019. He has maintained an undefeated professional record going into his 5th UFC bout. On the other hand, Gabriel Santos is also an undefeated prospect who’s earned this opportunity due to a Nathaniel Wood injury. Santos is coming off a big win while competing in the daughter promotion of the UFC in LFA. In this matchup, there’ll be some massive advantages in the camp of Murphy as he’s got outstanding experience in the UFC against some legit competition while also holding a sizeable advantage on the feet and with his cardio. I’ll look for Lerone Murphy to be brilliant against the dangerous Santos early, as he knows his cardio is a massive edge. Murphy should be looking to point fight in RD1 while sticking to the outside and slowly picking up the pace as the fight continues. Murphy has all the ability to keep this standing and avoid submission threats of Santos. I love Murphy to fight discipline and get his hand raised in London.
