The stars have aligned for San Diego State to make the Sweet 16 thanks to a bad pass by Virginia in the final seconds. Furman has a great offense and had a very successful season in the SoCon, but you can pretty much throw those stats out as they’re about the face a defense unlike any they’ve seen all season. The Aztecs rank 27th in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 63.4 points per game. They’re 6th in defensive 3 point percentage and Furman has absolutely no shot at winning the rebounding battle. Remember, this is a squad that just shut down one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the nation (Utah State) to win the Mountain West Championship. Furman is not strong on the defensive side, which will open up scoring opportunities for Matt Bradley and company. Expect the Aztecs to dominate from the tip. Take San Diego State 1st half.
