Iona covered their first round game last year; hanging tough with Florida in a competitive, five point loss against a Power 5 conference foe.  Rick Pitino’s squad covered the spread against Alabama in the Big Dance in 2021 as well.  Now, playing in the tourney for the third straight season, this veteran squad isn’t going to be intimidated by anybody.  And it’s certainly worth noting that the Gaels fall into a STRONG Big Dance ATS system. Teams coming off three consecutive double digit wins (Iona dominated the MAAC tournament last weekend) are 16-2 ATS as underdogs of +6.5 or higher – relatively fresh and playing with confidence.

UConn has been a very trendy pick to win the national title.  KenPom has them ranked as the #4 team in the country, not a #4 seed in the tournament; a team with a truly impressive statistical profile.  There are no ‘betting bargains’ to support the Huskies these days, an overvalued commodity in their tourney opener.  Take the points!  Take Iona.
