CBB 5% PICK MARCH 17TH5% MIAMI (ML-130) over DRAKEIt's amazing how many people are jumping on the 12 vs 5 upset bandwagon. The No. 5 seeds are on an 18-31-3 ATS slide vs No. 12 seeds in the first round. This is the kind of trend that the public loves to jump all over and it's a trend that I love to play against. Especially when we get the better team at a cheap price. Miami has a more diverse scoring attack, more efficient shooting from the field, the three-point line, and a better track record away from home. Miami went 9-2 ATS on the road this year, while Drake went just 4-8 ATS in away games. Coach Jim Larrañaga and his team play in the ACC against teams like Duke, Pittsburgh & Virginia and have gone 3-1 against ranked opponents this year. Meanwhile, Drake plays in the Missouri Valley and has faced just one top-25 team the entire year. This is a huge step up in class for Drake. It would also seem that the market is over-reacting to the injury to Miami big man Norchad Omier, who rolled his ankle in the opening minutes against Duke last game. Now losing his presence on the court would not be great for Miami, but backup big man Anthony Walker is more than capable of stepping up to get the job done defensively. It's also important to know that Omeir has not been ruled out and practiced with the team on Wednesday before they left for Albany. Even if he doesn't go, Miami is a team that went to the Elite 8 last year and has one of the top 3 backcourts in the country and will have no problem outscoring Drake from everywhere on the court. Give me the Hurricanes at a great price to get it done on Friday.
