After last night’s results, Phoenix has to feel a bit of tightness around the collar as the Suns are now just a half-game ahead of the Clippers for the fourth spot in the Western Conference and the home court in the current alignment that would see Phoenix play Los Angeles in the first round. Orlando no longer the pointspread players’ dream team after losing eight of its last 11 against the points, and turning its extended “under” run (11-3) into five straight “over” results. The first meeting between the two was an Orlando tour de force, as they beat the Suns 114-97 at the Amway Center, outshooting Phoenix 52.4-40%, killing them 50-38 on the boards, and they held Booker to just 6-19 from the field and a paltry (for him) 17 points. There was no Chris Paul that night, either, and the Magic perimeter sharpshooters made 15 of 33 from beyond the arc. The Suns are 17-9-1 laying 11 points or fewer at the Footprint Center since late April last year, and recent pointspread slump has taken the sting from the Magic’s 33-21 mark as a dog this season.
