4% Oklahoma (8:00 ET): I think that this is a great spot to fade #11 TCU, who is coming off a very impressive 83-60 beatdown of Kansas (in Phog Allen!) The Horned Frogs had another impressive win the previous weekend, 82-68 over Kansas State (that one at home), but recall I faded them the next time out when they went to West Virginia (who was winless at the time in Big XII play) and ended up losing 75-64 (as a dog).
Oklahoma has played A LOT of close games recently as six of their last seven have been decided by five points or less. Sadly, for the Sooners, they have gone just 2-4 SU in those six games including a tough 62-60 home loss to Baylor over the weekend as the Bears got hot from three late in the game from an uncharacteristic source. The Sooners led that game at the half and outshot Baylor 45.6% to 36.2%. Unfortunately for OU, they were just 5 of 21 from three point range.
While I obviously believe TCU is a Top 25 team right now, I’m not quite as high on them as the pollsters are. The Big XII is the toughest league in America (no secret there) and I just think it’s very tough to be laying this many points after the kind of win the Horned Frogs had last Saturday. (Look no further than the WVU result last week). 6’11” Center Eddie Lampkin injured his ankle vs. Kansas and while he did end up returning, HC Jamie Dixon said of the ankle “I’m sure he’ll be sore.” Worth noting that five of TCU’s last nine games have been decided by six points or less. Take the points. 4% Oklahoma (Play to +4).
