4% Miami ML (7:35 ET): I missed the best of the number, but I still like the Heat to win here, so simply play them on the money line. This is the second night of a back to back for Boston, who saw their nine-game win streak come to a rather shocking end last night as they were beaten 113-98 in Orlando. This despite Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum combining for 52 points. It was the Celtics’ first loss since January 3rd. Interestingly though, more often than not, when the Celtics’ have a win streak snapped, they lose multiple games in a row. That’s what I think happens here.
Miami is closer to full strength than they have been in quite some time. They’ve won five of seven overall, including a perfect 4-0 at home. Sunday, they were able to hold off New Orleans for a 100-96 victory (did not cash as 7.5-point favorites). The last time these teams met, the Heat won in Boston, 120-116 in a game that went to overtime. Bam Adebayo led the way with 28 points. The Celtics have not been good in revenge spots this season, covering only 2 of 12 overall including 1 of 7 if the loss occurred at home.
Boston was shorthanded last night and that figures to be the case again here. Marcus Smart, Malcolm Brogden and Robert Williams were all sidelined against Orlando, so you can see why Tatum and Brown didn’t have much help. Miami does need to get its offense going and I suspect we’re going to start to see better three-point shooting from them moving forward. Yes, I’m aware that the Celtics have not lost on the second night of a back to back this season (7-0). But look for that to change here as I LOVE the spot for Miami, who has held three of its last five opponents under 100 points. 4% Miami ML (Play to -170)
