3% Take Oklahoma City (#538)
My clients and I have bet ON Oklahoma City with some regularity this season, much like we did last year. It’s paid enormous dividends! OKC finished #2 in the NBA with a 48-30-4 ATS mark last year and they rank at the top of the ATS standings again this year: 28-16 ATS; a consistently undervalued commodity. They just went on the road and knocked off Brooklyn, Chicago and Philly – three playoff teams – all by double digit margins. They’ve won their last three home games vs Dallas, Boston and Washington – two playoff teams in that group – all by double digit margins. This is a hot team right now; a team that doesn’t get any national publicity or TV appearances – they’re holding their value, still!
Indiana without the inured point guard Tyrese Halliburton is proving to be a ‘bet-against’ team: 0-4 SU, 1-3 ATS since the injury. The Myles Turner trade rumors have picked up again, a team with ample ‘off court’ distractions these days, and Turner is playing through pain right now after sitting out a few games. This quote from backup TJ McConnell speaks volumes: “Without Tyrese – and this is not a shot at me and Andrew (Nembhard) – we just don’t have a true closer. Someone to kind of slow us down and go get us a bucket or get an assist. I’m not saying that me and Andrew aren’t capable of that, but Tyrese does that at a high level.” I concur. OKC has a closer in Shai Gilgeous- Alexander. Ride the hot & fade the cold. Take the Thunder
