*Check your books to see if they pay out on ties or if they pay out on dead heat rules. If you notice a big difference in price from book to book, that’s probably why. Different books have different rules, and even the domestic books have different rules in different parts of the country so just look at their rules to know what bet you're getting. I'm playing this on BetOnline at +100 and Dead Heat rules apply. BetMGM pays out on ties and the play is -160 there so that gives you some perspective the price difference based on the rules.
Tony Finau really struggled to start off the year, and we cashed more than one ticket betting against him. However, as we see in golf all the time we have to be willing to adjust our opinion when guys go in and out of funks, and Finau appears to be playing his best golf of the season now, and is peaking right before the FedEx Cup Playoffs. What I’m noticing is that he’s taking advantage of the tournaments with watered down fields, and this is certainly a watered down field. His finishes at the last four weak tournaments are a win at the 3M Open, 13th at The Travelers, 2nd at the RBC Canadian, and 4th at The Charles Schwab. He’s finished 28th or worse at all the Majors so he is middle of the road at the hard courses with hard fields, but thrives when the course and field is easy, and this is an easy course and field. In this field, he is 2nd in total strokes gained over the last 3 months, 2nd in strokes gained tee to green, 5th best in strokes gained approach, and 8th in strokes gained around the green. His putting has always been the weakness in his game as evident by his 142nd ranking this season, but over the last three months he ranks 26th in this field. Last week in his win, he was only 42nd in putting so it goes to show how great his tee to green game is right now. He drives the ball 305 yards which is big advantage this week as several of the par 5s are gettable to the longer players, and there are three par 4s that play under 400 yards. He has played here once, and only finished 53rd, but that was coming out of the COVID shutdown where he was not playing well, and I don’t take anything away from that event. I love the form he is in right now, and another big performance from him this week will give him a boost in FedEx Cup points so expect him to be near the top of the leaderboard all week and to finish inside the top 20.
