In a main card bout of the toughest names to pronounce…
Damir Ismagulov faces Guram Kutateladze.
Inactive fighters can be iffy wagering. Limited current footage lowers the ability to cap a fight. But in turn, one fighter out roughly two years presents further confusing. So, you know what…? We're betting on that exact situation. Here's why…
Damir's stepped into the UFC cage 4 times walking out victorious in each appearance. What's impressive is who he's defeated out the gate. UFC threw Damir into the deep end and appears for good reason beating Thiago Moises, Joel Alvarez and Rafael Alves. Stiff competition yet it shows the confidence in his ability accepting and winning those match ups. Of course, those 4 fights took place from 2018 to 2021. Slight concern on limited activity, yet displayed extremely high level skill sets all around. Sharp combinations, good footwork and movement backed by top level grappling credentials. Rangy on the feet with an ability for quick level changes mixing up the pace. While Guram Kutateladze (say that 10 times fast) hasn't seen the UFC cage since 2020 winning a split decision against a tough Mateusz Gamrot. A 2 year layoff is massively concerning for anyone seeking to back Guram this weekend. With that said, he's no slouch. Big for the division, solid takedown defense with a well timed kicking arsenal. Besides for more explosiveness, …I believe Damir's got him covered anywhere this fight goes. Working at range out landing Gurman will lead to opportunities to level change. Even if Guram's able to scramble back up, Damir's gotta push the pace. Those level changing attempts should wear on Kutateladze providing openings to out work Guram over 3 rounds if need be. Lastly, all fighters say… ring dust is real. Out 2 years and only had 2 fights since 2019 are red flags. All those positives for Guram should tick down a notch allowing for Ismagulov finding multiple paths to victory.
At -160 is low and believe he's got the upside to control action from start to finish. Could be Damir Ismagulov's coming out party… and I've got the Casamigo ready.
