In a main card bout, Jack Della Maddalena faces Ramazan Emeev…
After deeeeeeeeep diving into the footage abyss of Jack Della Maddalena… I've come to one conclusion. He's going to win. Yup, no witty punchline or one of my fantastic random references for a quick giggle. Nope. Just the fact that at 25 years young dude has already displayed pure talent.
Now let's first talk about the elephant in the room, …Ramazan Emeev's wrestling heavy approach. I know I know, that's a slight concern having him lay and pray on top of Jack all fight. While there will be a plethora of level changing attempts, I don't believe holding Della Maddalena down comes easy. First red flag is Emeev's extremely basic striking skill set. There's good reason he'll relentlessly shoot at legs due to the fact it's close to his only weapon. On the feet Jack fires heavy hands sparking out cold 9 of the 11 pro fighters he's faced. Add in his high striking volume mixing in smooth stance changes from south paw to orthodox. Many times, disguising angles at which combinations are thrown. With lackluster striking defense and limited weapons on the feet, Emeev shouldn't provide much offense in return. This goes right back to our main point. Wrestling. Once Emeev tastes leather from Jack, he'll be swan diving at Della Maddalena's legs. But having to defend heavy strikes from ongoing pressure makes a wrestler struggle level changing off back foot. Also in the normal size cage Saturday night, that extra space should provide more area to work at range when needed. Even in the clinch, Jack having a solid judo background should help support defending level changes pushing for space. I mean it's not like Emeev is Khabib, only supporting s 29% takedown success rate. Even in spots when Ramazan's successfully taken opponents down he's been sloppy on keeping position. Jack having only seen round 3 once in his career, cardio hasn't fully been tested. What's actually good to see in his bout 2 fights ago on Dana White Contender Series, not only did he go to war against a tough Ange Loosa but went all 3 rounds showing durability. Great learning spot for him to finally go a hard 3 rounds. Yet, Emeev's clearly shown cardio dumps by end of round 2, making round 3 a very ugly mess many times for him.
At the current line of -150 providing an implied probability of roughly 60%, think it's low. Believe he's got the tools to find a victory Saturday night.
5% Best Bet: Jack Della Maddalena (-150)
