This looks to me to be a nice situational spot for Seattle. The Mariners aren't an especially good team to be sure. But they're hanging in as far as the playoff race is concerned, and as of today Seattle is rather remarkably just two games out of the second wild card spot in the AL. So this is a big series for the Mariners as they have a chance to get some good stuff done against a team that's realistically out of any contention. I also think this is a potential letdown for the Diamondbacks off a very exciting series with the Dodgers. The Snakes could be a bit drained after finally winning last night, and bear in mind they're now 3-18 in their last 21 games. The Mariners had yesterday off so they will be the fresher team here. About the only negative on the team stuff is Seattle's horrid road record, while Zona is just a game under .500 at home. Pitching advantage to Kikuchi, who has some decent metrics. Caleb Smith has pitched only three innings off his injury and was extremely wild in that outing. Neither team hits lefties at all well. I like the Mariners here. But I want no part of either bullpen so I'm making my wager a first half only play. Mariners F5 is the bet.
