LIST STARTING PITCHERS if neccessary Duffy and Boyd

A short outliner on the "why" this MLB over-under is value packed.

The skies in KC, Mo will threaten throughout the day and eveving.

Kansas City skipper Mike Matheny told the local media that his managerial style this MLB season would be to manage every game of this 60-game sprint like it was the most important game ever.  Danny Duffy takes the ball to the hill today after losing the team's 2020 season opener to Cleveland by a 2-0 score. Duffy threw just 65 pitches in the team's debut.

Unless you have a unique gift with boxscore or you witnessed Boyd's season opening analysis you have found what is typical of Boyd in April, the start of the season. The Detroit lefty is usually slow out of the gate and nothing was different with the southpaws first outing of2020.

Boyd was unable to earn himself and his teammates a victory last Friday but his performance was not as bad as the boxscore may have suggested.

As any weekend warrior how the Tigers have fared in the first week of the 2020 MLB season and most will make a statement, that includes pitcher Boyd, and relate him to them (this being the Tigers) as a team that can't be trusted.

I will agree to disagree. You can in fact count on Detroit. One can count on them to be offensively challenged the entire season, the shortened version.

Glance or review the Opening Day game that the Tigers participated in and you might well have thought, because of the read and recap, that starting pitcher Boyd was blown up. The truth is that first and foremost Boyd is typically a slow starter. be it in terms of rotational RPM or from being hit by a batted bal

Boyd has a career April ERA of less than 4.00. And while this isn't April it is still the first week of the campaign. The Detroit starter was only able to conjure two K's in his season debut

Two strikeouts, a loss and what should have happened was that Boyd lost giving up less runs with more K's. The Detroit lefty had his slider working. The big framed Boyd has an elite slider that records a 21% swinging strike rate.  In addition his 11% overall swinging-strike rate is in line with what he was as a red sox.  Furthermore the exit velocity on Boyd's balls hit in play --  88.7 mph average speed -- are below league average.

The scheduled home plate umpire, Pat Hoberg, makes fewer poor/bad calls than anyone inside the union circle of MLB umpires.
