In this situation the market opened generously at pick'em giving us fantastic value on Molly McCann....

Molly McCann is on a 3 fight winning streak defeating Priscila Cachoeria, Ariane Lipski and Diana Belbita all via decision. Each bout this tough English fighter continues to elevate her overall skill set. With her boxing background as the building blocks for her MMA style she's begun adding takedowns into her game. Adding level changes brings a new dynamic to her offensive attack. Against Ariane Lipski whom had a 6 inch each advantage, Molly fought extremely well utilizing takedowns when pressuring forward. Lipski tried using her reach but Molly cut distance well using good footwork and dictating the pace of the fight. McCann is a boxer but her brawling mentality and toughness in tight is hard for opponents to defend at times. Molly picked up that victory putting all her MMA skills together. Most recently against Diana Belbita Molly once again used pressure walking down Belbita forcing her offense off her back foot. In these situations it's once again harder to hold your ground and fire back. This is the exact gameplan I believe she'll once again use againt Taila Santos.

Taila Santos is a product of Dana White's contender series beating a very unimpressive Estefani Almeida. Santos was able to win a boring fight but never had to face adversity due to lack of offense from Almeida. In Santos UFC debut she squared off against Mara Romero Borella whom is currently 1-4 in her last 5 UFC fights. Borella earned her only win in 5 fights against Santos and Borella didn't have to do much to earn the win. Most of this fight took place in the clinch and kept Santos back up against the cage. At times she seemed lost or out of position even when Borella offered up openings to take advantage of.

Style wise, Molly's forward pressure will be key in this bout. I believe the ONLY reason this line opened at pick'em is due to the roughly 6 inch reach advantage of Santos. But, the inexperience of Santos doesn't allow her to utilize the reach advantage. Never during her past fights has she kept good distance using a snapping jab to work her boxing angles. The basic striking she offers up should provide openings for Molly to work in tight, plus add in the low volume output of Santos will allow Molly to close the distance. That should allow McCann to walk her down most of the fight and seek to out point her on the scorecards. Molly's last 2 opponents whom she beat had the same reach advantage as Santos, so facing longer fighters is nothing new for her in the UFC. Also she's good at ending rounds on a takedown or pushing the pace late in a round to win it. At this price and what Molly has, I like her toughness to be the x-factor to get the win.
