The Yankees fell one game short of a four game home sweep against the Kansas City Royals with an 8-6 loss yesterday.<\/p>\n The Mariners lost three of four in Houston against their division rivals the Astros. The struggling righty Domingo German gets the nod for New York, while the southpaw Marco Gonzales takes the mound for Seattle. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM EST\/4:10 PST.<\/p>\n Slow Second Half Start For Seattle<\/h3>\nThe Seattle Mariners entered the All-Star break as hot as any team in the league, but they have not been able to compete with the American League West leading Houston Astros since then.<\/p>\n They have now played Houston seven times in the last 10 days and lost six of them. They did pick up a sweep over the Texas Rangers in between those series, so they haven’t fallen completely flat.<\/p>\n They wrapped up a four game series against the Astros with a 3-2 ten inning loss on Sunday. Jesse Winker provided the only offense with a two run blast.<\/p>\n The Mariners currently occupy the 2nd Wild Card spot by the slimmest of margins with a half game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays and a 1.5 game lead over the Cleveland Guardians.<\/p>\n Seattle is dealing with some injuries to key players as their leading hitter Ty France is questionable with a wrist injury, while rookie standout Julio Rodriguez in on the IL and will miss this contest.<\/p>\n Seattle turns to the 30 year old lefty Marco Gonzales, who is 6-10 with a 3.66 ERA on the season. He was magnificent last time out ad he threw seven innings of two run baseball.<\/p>\n Pinstripes Pull Off Another Series Victory<\/h3>\nThe New York Yankees will be coming off a frustrating 8-6 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. They won the first three games of the series but blew the sweep on Salvador Perez three run bomb in the top of the 9th.<\/p>\n Yankees and All-Star game closer Clay Holmes picked up a rare blown save. Anthony Rizzo went 2 for 4 with a second-deck three run Rizzo rocket, while Jordan Montgomery gave up four earned runs in only four innings pitched.<\/p>\n The Yanks are only 5-6 since the break, but they still hold an 11.5 game lead over the Toronto Blue Jays. However they are now tied with Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in Major League Baseball.<\/p>\n Aaron Judge has been otherworldly for the Bronx Bombers with a .300 batting average, 42 homeruns and 91 RBI. New York will send struggling starter Domingo German to the hill in the Bronx on Monday night.<\/p>\n He has had a tough go in his two starts since his return from the 60-day IL. German has allowed seven runs in 7.2 innings resulting in an 0-1 record, 8.22 ERA and 1.83 WHIP.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n New York Yankees vs Seattle Mariners Prediction<\/h2>\nThe New York Yankees are heavily favored with a -190 money line, with the Seattle Mariners sitting at +165 and a total of 9. It’s no secret that the New York Yankees are top five offensive team in almost any category imaginable.<\/p>\n However, German can’t be trusted enough to New York as a side. We also mentioned that the Mariners lineup will be missing key players and they were already playing without Mitch Haniger. Let’s isolate the Bronx Bombers potent lineup against a hittable southpaw.
