The Guardians took a 2-1 series edge in a dramatic 7-6 victory on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n The Red Sox record now sits below .500 at 49-50. Cleveland sends the young righty Triston McKenzie to the mound, while Boston hopes the rookie Kutter Crawford can right the ship. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST\/4:10 PST.<\/p>\n The Boston Red Sox continued to find different ways to lose games in Wednesdays 7-6 defeat to the Cleveland Guardians. This time it was three fielding errors by first baseman Franchy Cordero and a solo home run by Josh Naylor that proved to be the game winner.<\/p>\n Nathan Eovaldi held his own with six innings of three earned-run baseball but errors did him in. Boston also wasted a two home run five RBI night from Bobby Dalbec in the process. It feels like the life was sucked out of this Red Sox team that second that line drive broke Chris Sales finger against the Yankees prior to the break.<\/p>\n Boston is currently 1-5 on the home stand post All-Star break and are 6-0-1 in their last seven series. The Red Sox have fallen behind the Baltimore Orioles in the standings and are currently in last place in the American League East.<\/p>\n Red Sox Nation hopes Kutter Crawford can get the team back on track. He keeps churning out quality starts and is 2-3 on the season with a 4.50 ERA. He held the Toronto Blue Jays to three runs across six innings in his last outing.<\/p>\n The Cleveland Guardians took advantage of sloppy play by the Boston Red Sox and took a 2-1 series lead with a 7-6 victory. Josh Naylor hit the solo-bomb that proved to be the game winner in the top of the 9th. Nolan Jones also went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.<\/p>\n Cal Quantrill wasn’t sharp as he allowed six runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings but the bullpen got the job done with 3.2 scoreless innings. The Guardians upper their record to 50-47 on the season, 2.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.<\/p>\n Cleveland starter Triston McKenzie is 7-6 with a 3.11 on the season. He has been nearly flawless in July with a 3-0 record and 0.34 ERA across 26.2 innings and four starts. He will look to continue his dominance and slam the door shut on the series on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n This game is close to a pick’em with the Cleveland Guardians money line set at -115, while the Boston Red Sox sit at -105 with a total of 9. This is another tough spot for the Boston Red Sox.<\/p>\n Triston McKenzie has been otherworldly with only one run allowed in his last 26.2 innings of work. “Sticks”, as he’s nicknamed, has led the Guardians to victory in his last four and 7 of his last 8 starts.<\/p>\n Kutter Crawford is starting for the Red Sox out of necessity, he has held his own but the Red Sox have won only one of his five starts. Normally Boston would have a tremendous hitting advantage but the lineup is lacking pop with Rafael Devers and Trevor Story both being on the IL.<\/p>\n This just isn’t the same Red Sox team from May and June. Injuries have hurt them, errors have cost them and they have been blown out countless times recently.
