Borussia Dortmund vs 1860 Munich Analysis<\/h3>\n

Borussia Dortmund looks to reclaim the DFB Pokal crown they lost last year after being victorious in the 2021 decider with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig.<\/p>\n

Jadon Sancho was instrumental in that cup winning run for Dortmund as he ranked as the top scorer in that competition but with him not around any longer for \u2018Der BVB\u2019, who will step up as Dortmund\u2019s cup dangerman?<\/p>\n

1860 Munich came off a seven-goal thriller over the weekend against Dynamo Dresden but will hope to be much more defensively responsible on Friday when the Bundesliga runners-up come to town.<\/p>\n

1860 Munich actually won the last meeting between the two sides in a club friendly back in 2016, but Dortmund hasn\u2019t lost a meaningful game against \u2018Die Lowen\u2019 in over 20 years.<\/p>\n

Dortmund Looks To Continue Cup Run<\/h3>\n

Borussia Dortmund is the DFB Pokal\u2019s fourth most-successful club of all time, winning the competition five times outright and finishing as runners-up five times as well.<\/p>\n

The majority of that success for Dortmund has come over the last decade however with the yellow-and-blacks picking up three titles over the last ten years alone (2012, 2017 & 2021) to mark themselves as one of the most dominant clubs over the last few years in the competition.<\/p>\n

Another victory here would lay down a good marker ahead of next week\u2019s opening day Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen as well.<\/p>\n

1860 Munich Look For Success in 2022-23<\/h3>\n

After narrowly missing out on a qualification spot at the end of last season, 1860 Munich will be keen to push on and secure at least a playoff spot ahead of this season.<\/p>\n

After a brief period in the Regionalliga, 1860 Munich has climbed the table steadily, finishing 12th in Bundesliga 3 in the 2018-19 season, eighth in 2019-20 and fourth in each of the last two seasons.<\/p>\n

With a huge influx of players arriving in the summer transfer window, 1860 Munich will be hoping third time is the charm in terms of pushing on from that disappointing fourth spot.<\/p>\n

Borussia Dortmund vs 1860 Munich Prediction<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s hard to look past a dominant Borussia Dortmund victory here on Friday but we believe 1860 Munich can nevertheless make it difficult for them defensively in this one.<\/p>\n

1860 Munich kept a 31% clean sheet percentage in Bundesliga 3 last season, the league\u2019s joint sixth-best record, and saw 64% of all their matches last season fall under this current total of 3.5 as well.<\/p>\n

While Dortmund is no doubt a prolific offensive team, they don\u2019t tend to go all out in cup games, scoring just one goal against St. Pauli last time out in the competition and two past Ingolstadt in the game prior, and only one of their last eight head-to-head matches against 1860 Munich has seen four or more goals scored also.<\/p>\n
