Sligo Rovers vs Motherwell Analysis<\/h3>\n

Sligo Rovers scored a sensational upset of Scottish Premiership team Motherwell over in Fir Park last week going on the road to beat the top-6 side in Scotland.<\/p>\n

A goal from Aidan Keena mid-way through the first half gave the Irish side the lead which they never relinquished and they now return to Ireland in good stead ahead of a pivotal leg 2.<\/p>\n

Motherwell is expected to bounce back with a win in this one going in as the -105 favorites for this game, but with their advantage from the first leg secured, Sligo Rovers are the team expected to qualify outright going off as the sizeable -188 favorites.<\/p>\n

Motherwell Looks For Redemption<\/h3>\n

Motherwell had a solid season in the Scottish Premiership last year, finishing in the top half of the table to push themselves into the Championship Group over the final five games of the season.<\/p>\n

Back-to-back club friendly wins in the off-season as well may have got this team a little too comfortable however as they faced a Sligo Rovers team who had struggled on the road this year in the Irish Premier Division, ranking bottom half in the table.<\/p>\n

However, they find themselves in a bit of a hole ahead of this second leg travelling over to Ireland on Thursday night and will need to find form quick if they\u2019re going to progress from this tie.<\/p>\n

Aidan Keena In Sensational Form<\/h3>\n

Motherwell mustn\u2019t have got the memo about 23-year-old Irish forward Aidan Keena last week as he punished them in the first half, pouncing on a Bevis Mugabi mistake at the back to net the only goal of the game.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s now 13 goals in just 12 games for Keena as he leads the Irish league in total goals scored this season and holds the league\u2019s highest goal contribution rate also at 35-percent.<\/p>\n

Keena, who had two recent stints over in Scotland with both Hearts and Falkirk, will be eager to keep that run going on Thursday with another solid display at home.<\/p>\n

Sligo Rovers vs Motherwell Prediction<\/h2>\n

What looked like an extremely unlikely outcome just one week ago now suddenly looks possible as Sligo Rovers find themselves just 90 minutes away from claiming a sizeable European scalp.<\/p>\n

The Rovers have the Irish league\u2019s fourth-best home record this season, losing just three games all season out west, and have the league\u2019s third-best xG and xGA ranking inside the Showgrounds this year as well, so will present no easy out for Motherwell in this one.<\/p>\n

Motherwell, for their part, has been dismal on the road this year, registering just one solitary road win over their final 13 league games of the season, the last of which came via a 6-0 beatdown by champions Celtic.<\/p>\n

While Motherwell is the better team overall here, this is an absolutely huge game for Sligo Rovers and we like them on the +0.5 handicap line as they proved last week they were more than capable of shutting Motherwell out for most of the match.<\/p>\n
